America's Camp Staff

Sending a child to camp is a tremendous act of faith by parents. At America's Camp, we take that responsibility very seriously and maintain an environment that encourages the development of a positive self-image.

Our talented, mature, enthusiastic staff is the key to attaining these goals. Over 150 staff volunteer to work at America's Camp each summer - nearly a 1-to-1 camper/staff ratio.

The America's Camp team includes experienced directors and administrators, trained grief support facilitators, a certified medical staff, instructors and coaches for a wide array of activities, and a caring general counselor staff. All are personally interviewed and carefully screened, with background and reference checks.

Staff members are selected for their dedication to children. Our wonderful camp counselors at America's Camp are the "cream of the crop" from the hundreds of staff members at the camps that comprise CampGroup, one of the co-sponsors of America's Camp. These staff members are all college-age or older, and many are majoring in education, recreation, or other human-service related fields. After spending a whole summer at their main camp, these spirited young men and women volunteer to work another 10 days at America's Camp - it's easy to see what their priorities are.

The America's Camp mission is to insure that your child has a safe, fun, and emotionally supportive camp experience. Our trained staff are available to assist campers in the grieving and healing process. During a thorough two-day staff orientation prior to the campers' arrival, the entire staff is sensitized to the needs of our campers. Should children be in need of emotional support during their stay with us, there will be a number of support systems in place. A highly trained staff consisting of personnel from the Center for Grieving Children (Portland, Maine) will provide on-site support to all the children. Trained grief facilitators will be available for your child and will assist them should the need arise. Three experienced camp counselors staff each camper cabin.
